Learning Through Play
Learning Through Play"All they do is play all day." "Don't they ever learn anything?"Did you ever hear these comments from parents? To an adult, it does look like children are justplaying all day.Play has a very different meaning to children. To a child, play is learning. Play is not somethingchildren do when they don't have anything better to keep busy.Children are interested in things around them. Set out a new toy and watch a young child exploreit. She carefully looks at it, feels it, shakes it, puts it in her mouth, tries to take it apart, sits on it,steps on it. This child is learning about the toy and herself as she plays and explores.LEARNING SKILLS TAKES TIMEA child doesn't learn to walk overnight. He takes small steps at first. Then moves on towalking. Learning other skills happens over time too. Did you know that building with blocks, putting puzzles together, and scribbling on paper help children learn to write? There are a lot oflittle steps before real writing begins.A lot of parents today are very concerned with wanting their children to read and write at an earlyage. What they don't understand are the steps that children must take to get to the point wherethey can read and write. Teaching pre-school children to read and write by using flash cards andworksheets is not a good way for them to learn. These steps are best done in a child's own way, through play.HERE ARE SOME WAYS CHILDREN LEARN AND GROW THROUGH PLAY:Blocks lead to Math and Writing SkillsPop-Up Toys lead to Thinking SkillsPuzzles lead to Reading and Writing SkillsBeads to string leads to Writing SkillsPaint lead to Science SkillsPens, pencils, markers and crayons lead to Writing SkillsWater play lead to Math and Science SkillsWet and dry sand lead to Science SkillsDress-up clothes, pretend play lead to Using the imagination; Problem Solving SkillsClay leads to Writing Skills, Problem Solving SkillsPENN STATE EXTENSION extension.psu.edu BETTER*KID*CARE
Why choose us
We were established in 1991 and provide a safe and clean environment for children to play and make new friends all within a homey, loving atmosphere.
Parents do not need to worry about teacher turnover or the rapid spread of germs that seems to go along with large daycare centers or receiving a call in the morning that daycare is closed that happens with some home daycares.
In January parents receive a yearly calendar listing holidays (paid days off) and our vacation days (at no charge). Those are the only days the daycare will be closed. You can depend on us to be opened because we realize your employer depends on you to be at work each day.
We are required to close if the power goes out, which rarely happens.
We follow CMS for winter snow closings. We are observing COVID-19 Health & Safety Measures.

Testimonials
- Locklear Family 4 years ago Once upon a time when we needed care, we looked all over from here to there. Our little daughter was our life and we need someone to keep her while we worked till night. After wondering and pondering our wishes we're blessed, by Home Touch Child Care who was simply the best. Truth be told we raise our kids at home until the Pre-K, was looking for a place for her to learn, and play. No only was this close to our home, it had the warmth of a place of our own. For a year our child stayed to learn and play, and till this day still talks about her daily array. For fresh breakfast like mom would make, to crafts and lunch then her nap break. Not one day as parents did we ever worry. Our child was in wonderful hands that never became weary. The skills she learned help her start at school. Where she is tops of her class and I can prove too. If have no clue where to begin, I'll give you my recommendation, but if you ask my daughter the talking my never end. (100% true)

Debi and her husband were fantastic caregivers for my 5 month old daughter! Debi wrote down all her feeding times, how much she did or didn't eat, etc. Adalynn was happy when I arrived, clean, and appeared perfectly cared for. There was even a doorbell with a security camera as an extra safety precaution. I would recommend this home child care service to anyone.
